Lexmark C532
It wasn’t all that long ago that color laser printers were regarded as too expensive for most offices to even contemplate using. Not only were they expensive to purchase, they were also expensive to use. Gradually over time, companies like Xerox began producing good quality laser printers only slightly more expensive than decent inkjets. This opened the market for other manufacturers to get in on the act and this is where we find ourselves now.
The Lexmark C532 is another quality printer from a name that is already ubiquitous with quality. Like the other members of the “C” class the C532 punches way above its weight in terms of cost and performance.
It’s difficult to find something new to say about these printers as they all offer great value for money and print really well. Text reproduction is the high point of the C532. Edges were straight, shading was complete, no jaggies and no fuzziness at lower points. Image reproduction was no surprise either. Both photos and images were reproduced accurately in both color and monochrome. The grayscale does an excellent approximation of the colors and there is no detail lost in translation. There were no artifacts, or banding like you see with many other, more expensive lasers.
Setting the C532 up was as easy as unpacking it and connecting it. Once powered, it was automatically discovered on the network and were configured in minutes. Starter toners are included which are good for a thousand sheets each, which isn’t so great but replacements are easy to acquire and reasonably priced. A new black toner will last for 4000 pages, and the color ones 3000 and are $70 and $75 respectively.
We would have no hesitation recommending the C532 to a small or home office. It is more than competent enough to handle even the most demanding print jobs, even image heavy ones.
With a decent duty cycle, long lasting toners the C532 would quite at home in a busy office environment. Anybody looking for an affordable color laser printer with quality finishing should look no further than the Lexmark C532.
