HP DeskJet 6980
A few months back when we were working on improving the standard of our library, I thought of buying a new printer for it. I wanted something which was fast so that more students and readers could benefit from it without wasting their time and at the same time I wished to have something which was less noisier from the old printer so that it doesn’t disturb the environment or the peace and quiet.
I now believe that buying HP DeskJet 6980 was the best thing I could have done. It is just great, and fulfills all the main requirements of a printer in the library. It has some great features which includes extra cartridges, Wi-Fi as well as wired Ethernet printing and print sharing. It even allows direct photo printing from cameras with the PictBridge feature. It features a 250 sheet plain paper tray so that it is easy for me to know how many papers have been used in the entire day. It helps me keep my limit for paper usage daily.
It has been in use for a few months now and during this time, there has been no report of its technical fault or anything negative. It is absolutely reliable and works without making a fuss. Its RAM memory size is 32 MB which is just enough for my needs. It does not have a scanner though it does have its own printer server for networking. Its print speed is really high which includes maximum speed of 36 pages per minute for black and white and 27 pages for color. It therefore allows a chance for all readers to make a use of it and nobody is kept waiting.
The main thing is that it is simple and easy to use. Most of the time I have readers in the library who are not exactly technical, so it can be difficult for them to have their own prints done. However I have noticed that only after explaining them once they are able to operate it with ease. Everything is laid out logically, the buttons and menus are clear and unambiguous.
Overall this has been a great asset to the library and all my readers and even the teaching staff are very happy with it.
