Xerox Phaser 6180MFP Printer Review
Overview:
Xerox has upgraded its ever popular Xerox Phaser 6180N laser printer by two variants of the 4 in 1 models: Xerox Phaser 6180MFP/N and the double-sided printing Xerox Phaser 6180MFP/D. Now in laser printer-copier-scanner version, both models have the enhanced work features, together with additional top-notch performance when it comes to full color printing.
Pros:
Xerox Phaser 6180MFP is a higher end laser color printer that also goes into a higher price range. But the good thing is that it comes in duplex and non-duplex model, both with very good performances and the non duplex model is much cheaper. One can make compromise with the non duplex model, because it delivers the equal level of quality in printing. This version can easily be improved with the duplex function afterwards, but with significant costs included.
The capacity of this high-end device is more than sufficient for an average office usage; it is supplied with 400 sheets standard media capacity; 150 sheets250-sheet input tray as well as a 150-sheet multipurpose tray. Additional 550 sheet-feeder makes it 950 max media capacity, but it is pretty costly. Automatic document feeder has capacity of 50 sheets, which makes this multifunction device excellent stand alone fax unit, which is also capable of over network fax executing.
400 MHz processor and 384 MB memory capacity enable very good print speed in both black and white and color printing category, as well as the high level of detailed and precise print. The device delivers an average print speed of 31 pages of black and white prints, and about 20 pages of full color prints per minute, which is very fast for both of the options. It can handle various sized paper, up to 8.5 x 14 inch sized. It is capable of 60,000 pages printing monthly, which is beyond the average capability of a color printer.
Xerox Phaser 6180MFP keeps the high-end level when it comes to color printing performances. Max printing resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi for mono and color print deliver high quality color graphic output. The 16 color shades per pixel is a surprisingly good result which leaves other devices in the category way behind. In addition, the 1200 x 1200 resolution is simulated at much higher speed.
Cons:
Minor weaknesses of this high-end multifunction color laser printer are mostly related to the network features setup. Although the Xerox Phaser 6180MFP has the automatic setup, the network scanning feature, a big advantage itself, unfortunately has to be set up manually. Network faxing feature setup can also be a bit complicated, because of the weird quirk in the process and a bit hard to find fax option. These minor disadvantages shouldn’t be the reason to underestimate the convenience of this high performance office device.
