Lexmark C532
It wasn’t all that long ago that color laser printers were regarded as too expensive for most offices to even contemplate using. Not only were they expensive to purchase, they were also expensive to use. Gradually over time, companies like Xerox began producing good quality laser printers only slightly more expensive than decent inkjets. This opened the market for other manufacturers to get in on the act and this is where we find ourselves now.
The Lexmark C532 is another quality printer from a name that is already ubiquitous with quality. Like the other members of the “C” class the C532 punches way above its weight in terms of cost and performance.
It’s difficult to find something new to say about these printers as they all offer great value for money and print really well. Text reproduction is the high point of the C532. Edges were straight, shading was complete, no jaggies and no fuzziness at lower points. Image reproduction was no surprise either. Both photos and images were reproduced accurately in both color and monochrome. The grayscale does an excellent approximation of the colors and there is no detail lost in translation. There were no artifacts, or banding like you see with many other, more expensive lasers.
Setting the C532 up was as easy as unpacking it and connecting it. Once powered, it was automatically discovered on the network and were configured in minutes. Starter toners are included which are good for a thousand sheets each, which isn’t so great but replacements are easy to acquire and reasonably priced. A new black toner will last for 4000 pages, and the color ones 3000 and are $70 and $75 respectively.
We would have no hesitation recommending the C532 to a small or home office. It is more than competent enough to handle even the most demanding print jobs, even image heavy ones.
With a decent duty cycle, long lasting toners the C532 would quite at home in a busy office environment. Anybody looking for an affordable color laser printer with quality finishing should look no further than the Lexmark C532.

Brother MFC 8500
Some of the best multi-function printers available in the market today are manufactured by Brother and Canon. The Brother MFC-8500 is perfect to use in office environments where there are at least 3000 pages to print every single month.
It has advanced features and is the perfect definition of what multi-function printers should be. It can handle high volume workloads and keeps on going without much intervention, so is a good investment in the longer term. It has the ability to scan multi-page faxes into memory at a very good pace, then also sends them out even quicker. It scans up to 9,000 dpi and prints 600 dpi. It prints and copies with a speed of up to 15 pages per minute. There are three easy to use scan buttons located on the front panel and it has a scanning resolution of 9,600 x 9,600.
The fax machine comes with the usual call waiting services, and caller. It’s also able to scan faxes in two seconds, which boosts productivity no end. The copier has the ability to enlarge copies up to 50 to 100 percent and the software that comes with this printer is the ScanSoft PaperPort and TextBridge OCR to help with better quality scans. Again it is preferably for office use in a commercial setting and will work with almost any Windows and Apple application. It has excellent print quality and is available at an affordable price.
The instruction manual that comes with this machine is very helpful and it has an easy installation procedure. This printer also has the ability to send and broadcast faxes directly and it has USB and parallel ports. It comes with a 30 sheet automatic document feeder, an 8MB ram standard and a 250 sheet paper tray with an additional 250 tray able to be attached. The telephone index in this machine has the ability to save numbers automatically and it even has an automatic legal to letter fax reduction.
Print quality is all important, even in a multi-function. There are no worries here, even though the chassis is stuffed full of features, the core printer capability is first rate. Text is clear, distinctive and ideal for office use. Images are clean, definitive if lacking in the occasional detail. Otherwise the device is top notch and will grace any office. Toner use is also minimal, so you don’t have to change the cartridges all the time.
