HP LaserJet P2035
The HP LaserJet P2035 is a laser monochrome printer that delivers, just like most other Hewlett Packard products. Its a solid, dependable machine that is worth much more than it costs and will last much longer than many of the competition.
The first thing you notice about it is the fact that it’s typical of the range. A compact cube shaped printer with no flaps, trays or other accoutrements to detract from the job at hand. There is a 250 paper tray at the bottom and a 50 sheet multipurpose tray.
The front flap exposes the toner and the paper path. This makes changing toner pretty easy, and if the printer ever jams, they are quickly freed through this access. The cartridges are good for 2300 pages and include the drum, toner and fuser in one package. This is one of the reasons running one of these is so easy, and cost-effective.
Print quality is spot-on, pardon the pun. The 600 dpi print engine produces good quality text that is crisp and black. the HP software can also simulate 1200 dpi for even more detail. Images and diagrams are well done with all prints showing only a tiny amount of banding and good contrast between grayscale shades. At up to 30 pages per minute its pretty quick but we found the average to be a little over 25 pages a minute, which is still respectable.
Out of the box its just a matter of removing the packaging, inserting toners and plugging it in. Its USB only so Windows computers will pick it up right away even before the drivers are installed. The drivers themselves are fully featured and will install in minutes. The software also includes productivity tools too to enhance the usability of the device.
The LaserJet P2035 is a solid, no-nonsense printer that doesnt sing and dance, but sits quietly in the corner and gets on with its work. Its exactly what a company would like in its employees. Dependable and loyal with no drama and no trouble, just solid output. It produces good quality work for not a lot of money, the toner lasts a decent amount of time and are easy to swap out. Everything else on it are lifetime parts, so the only cost per page is running the machine and paper.

HP Color LaserJet 2600n
The HP Color LaserJet 2600n is an inexpensive color printer whose capability outshines the value by a decent margin. It has networking capabilities built in and can print quality documents in relatively little time.
It isnt the smallest printer in the world, and weighs quite a bit, so while it could be classed as a desktop printer, it would have to be a big desk. It would be far better off having its own space. Seeing as it can be networked, this shouldnt be a problem. HP obviously expect most users to use the 10/100 port as they dont include a USB cable with the package, so if you want to use it, order one of those at the same time as the printer.
Color printers are coming down in price all the time. They were not so long ago something only graphic designers and marketing departments could justify, now they are affordable for all of us. Now they are not only cheaper, but better everyones a winner. Hewlett Packard have a long established presence in the marketplace, known for producing quality equipment at decent prices. While their drivers might leave a little to be desired, their printers certainly dont.
The LaserJet 2600n is a typical example of an HP printer done well. Print quality is top notch with black text quality being a particular strong point. Crisp blacks, straight edges and clean letters at any point are just what we need in a laser. The graphics reproduction was also good with only the tiniest amount of blotching in grayscale, and excellent in color. Detail was retained in photos whichever print mode we used and looked good overall.
Our test document is designed specifically to make the printer work hard for its rating and Im pleased to say the 2600n didnt disappoint. It coped with all 24 pages of text, graphs, images and photographs admirably and didnt falter once. Many, much more expensive printers have failed these tests for one reason or another, but the 2600n breezed through without even blinking.
If you want a good quality printer for not a lot of money then the HP Color LaserJet 2600n is just the ticket. While not the smallest, or fastest printer in the world, it is the most reliable and consistent we have tested in a long time.
