Panasonic DP 2310
If you need fast, high quality printing from a manufacturer you can trust, the Panasonic DP-2310 is the device for you. From basic copying of documents, minutes or emails to the production of stapled reports, or marketing materials, the DP-2310 delivers.
It can print and copy up to 23 pages per minute at a resolution of 600 dpi. The 256 grayscale tones allows accurate reproduction of mono or full-color images. Panasonics image stabilizing technology controls the laser much better which allows a much finer print. This gives the DP-2310 over its competitors by allowing it to produce a much finer, and more exact print finish. Couple this with the finer particles used in Panasonic toners, and you can begin to see why the print reproduction is so good.
The half VGA LCD screen provides fast access to the device functions as well as helps users learn how to use the device. The helpful graphical representations on screen allows users to be walked through the processes, and informs them of status.
The optional fax kit for the DP-2310 transforms it into a high performance multifunction device. The Super G3 modem transmits at 33.6kbps and can send a legal sized document to up to 220 destinations at once.
The DP-2310 can be connected via network or USB and comes complete with a comprehensive driver suite and productivity tools. Automatic network discovery allows it to find and join a workgroup automatically and will work immediately the drivers are installed on the client machines.
The DP-2310 can be controlled completely from the desktop using the tools provided. The software, and the control panel both offer a before and after view of the document you are about to process. This is an excellent feature that lets you preview the finished document to ensure it’s the right quality. This saves time, and consumables as the document can be manipulated before actually printing.
There are a whole raft of options that you can add to the DP-2310 if you want to. Extra paper trays, document finishers, network scanners, document handlers, extra memory and a hard drive. This all means that the machine is a truly modular device that can evolve and grow with the business it serves.

Samsung SCX 4725FN
Multifunction printers are great when space is limited. They are ideal for the small or home office as they are cost-effective, and perform the role of four devices all in one chassis.
The Samsung SCX-4725FN is aimed squarely at the small or home office market. While it certainly isn’t the best looking appliance in the world, it is useful, and very good at what it does. The size is average for a multifunction device, measuring 20 inches wide, with a minimal lip at the top for the scanner flatbed. This is larger than a standalone printer, but on-par for a multifunction.
Print quality is precisely what you would expect from a Samsung. Text appears crisp, with clean edges. Images reproduction pushes the grayscale a bit with a few jaggies and a bit of banding but nothing that would spoil the effect. Overall, toner spread was even and detailed enough for most needs.
The user manual is easy to read and have you up and running in no time at all. Installing the toner and drum can be a fiddly affair, no such problems with the SCX-4725FN. They both slide easily into the drawer and clip into place. Loading paper is just as straightforward, with the paper tray also being at the front at the bottom. Fill it up and off you go. It isn’t a paper drawer like many others, this is an actual tray that protrudes a bit from the front.
If you want a standalone copier, scanner and fax, this is all you have to do to get productive. If you want to use it in conjunction with a computer, you merely need to install the drivers and connect the SCX-4725FN to the computer, and it’s all done.
The control panel is simple and easy to use, with different button sets for each function. This allows ease of use, without getting confused over what button is for which function, or having to follow a menu.
The automatic document feeder on the top is good for 50 sheets, and works well. There is also a multipurpose paper tray for non standard sizes like envelopes or labels.
Overall the SCX-4725FN is a solid multifunction device for the most environments. It a reliable performer that won’t let you down. Consumables last a decent amount of time and don’t cost the too much.

Toshiba E Studio 203L
The Toshiba E-Studio 203L is a member of an ever widening range of multifunction devices from the Japanese manufacturing giant. The E-Studio 203L is also aimed firmly at business as this is definitely a business class workgroup machine. It would suit a small to medium office with low to medium monthly duty requirements.
Once unpacked, the device can be working in minutes. The setup process is straightforward, and is suitable to users of all skill levels. The E-Studio 203L comes with USB, Ethernet, wireless and parallel connections built in. Ethernet and USB were up and running as soon as they were connected and the drivers installed. Wireless took a little longer, but nothing outrageous.
The control panel is laid out well, with a movable screen that can be tilted to suit. The touch screen is intuitive and easy to read, while having all the features logically laid out. There is a comprehensive array of buttons for even the most demanding of users, while almost all the functions can be accessed over a network.
The build quality is solid, with a reassuring feel, none of the trays feel flimsy or weak, and overall it looks built to last.
The standard paper tray holds 550 the multipurpose tray a further 100, and the document bypass 100 more. Toner is handled discreetly, and replacement cartridges are good for 23000 pages. The device also has a toner save feature, that once activated, offers to save toner by applying it a little thinner on each print. If you don’t mind lighter documents, this can save quite a lot of money in a busy environment.
Printing and Copying produced quality pages, with text appearing clean and clear. Documents containing images were okay for a laser multifunction, we were pleased with the outcome. It is often hit and miss with lasers as to how they can handle a photograph or image, and the E-Studio 203L handled them well. The speed of operation is also acceptable with a print or copy coming out at up to 20 pages per minute.
This is a very flexible machine that has enough features to serve any office well, with more optional feature to allow it to grow with you. The E-Studio 203L is a good prospect for almost any office.
