Lexmark Optra T620

The Lexmark Optra T620 is a monochrome laser printer suited to the home or small office market and adds a little more variety to Lexmark’s market presence. The company is a powerhouse when it comes to producing good quality printers. Once known almost exclusively for their high quality inkjets, it didn’t take them long to make an impact onto the laser market. Now Lexmark easily competes with the heavyweights like Brother and Xerox for position.

Installing the T620 is as easy as getting it out of the box, installing the toner cartridges and connecting it. Connect to a computer via USB, or network if you have the DN version. It works with all operating systems, including many flavors of Linux, and the driver suite is easy to install too. The web-based control panel makes maintenance simple and allows you to modify many printer settings from the desktop.

Considering the fact this is a laser that prints at 30 pages per minute it offers good value for money. The initial purchase price is reasonable as are the running costs. You can pick up a toner for around $70, which will last up to 30000 pages. The duty cycle is an amazing 100000 pages too, which spans a whole raft of markets. It’s cheap enough for the home user or SOHO market, but capable enough for the office or workgroup market too. This continues Lexmark’s trend of trying to cover as many bases as possible without compromising on any of them.

As for the print quality, text is printed clean and clear, with straight lines and the toner appearing black instead of the dark gray that plagues some lasers. Graphs and images are just as good, with an even spread and accurate grayscale reproduction. Our test document is 24 pages long and includes everything it is likely to meet in daily use. It is a real test of a printers capabilities, and sorts the men from the boys in no time at all.

The T620 is a solid monochrome printer that offer great flexibility and value for money. This device is ideal for the office or home worker that wants good quality prints without a hefty price tag. Who want a good quality, reliable device that won’t let them down.

Dell 3100cn

The Dell 3100cn is a strong performance laser printer which gives sharp and clear prints. With all its fine features and speed it is most apt for personal use and above all the price is so affordable for a printer this good.

Actually I have had the chance to use it personally when I was at college and needed an affordable printer for printing essays. A friend recommended Dell to me and not once have I regretted buying it. It served its purpose well and was a great help as I had to submit an assignment every other day when I was doing my degree. The results of the black and white printing were outstanding. Even the smallest of fonts were legible and clear. When I needed some fancy marketing assignment done its colored graphics never disappointed me and always gave extraordinary results.

A 250 sheet paper tray comes with it as standard equipment which increases its capacity to 400 and it can be further expanded to 900 if required. This enhances its value. The toner cartridges for this printer are rated for about 4000 pages. Even the replacement cartridges can be bought at a reasonable price with regard to its high quality and clarity of images and texts printed.

The only small drawback is the size of the printer. It is heavy and occupies more space than a usual printer but since I did not have to move it around it suited me well and obviously good results was a major plus point. It has a blue light LCD display below which are three buttons for menu, cancelling job and a select button with four way arrow keys to make adjustments. The standard USB and parallel ports are also included.

The Dell 3100cn is a multipurpose printer that comes with a variety of connectivity options and 64MB RAM. The small RAM memory is suitable for about 10 people but is more than sufficient for using at home.
When rated overall Dell 3100cn has a lot of advantages and is very useful.

If you are looking for an easy to use printer which gives high quality results at an affordable price then there is no better option than the Dell 3100cn. The combination of its performance and features is exemplary and I highly recommend it to anyone what wants to use it for personal use or even a small business.
